FDA decides that trans fatty acids are no longer safe and have to be eliminated

The American Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has decided that trans fatty acids (TFAs) are no longer considered as GRAS (generally recognized as safe) and have to be eliminated.  Producers have been given until 18 June 2018 to comply. This decision is very timely and should help the European Commission to draw the conclusion that the same is true for the EU.
